The purchase journey

Stores that work every day, not just on launch day

In short

WooCommerce development is building new online stores and improving existing ones on WordPress: catalogue structure, product variations, checkout, payments, tax and shipping, store performance and custom features, all tested with real orders before customers see them.

A store has more moving parts than any other kind of website. Prices, stock, variations, coupons, shipping zones, tax rules, payment gateways, order emails and the extensions that connect them all interact. Small mistakes are expensive: a tax rule that’s wrong for one region, a shipping rate that undercharges, a checkout that fails on one payment method.

The purchase journey we build and test

The WooCommerce purchase journey from product page to cart, checkout, payment and order, each step tested before launch
Every step tested with real carts

Every store is tested end to end before launch: products with each variation added to the cart, coupons applied, shipping and tax calculated for your main regions, payment through every gateway (in test mode, then a live low-value order), and order emails checked for customer and admin.

Catalogue structure

Getting products right early saves a lot of rework. We decide with you how categories, tags and attributes are used; which products are simple and which are variable (with attributes like size and colour); how stock is tracked; and how bundles, add-ons or custom options should work. For larger catalogues we plan CSV imports and bulk-editing workflows so your team isn’t editing products one by one.

Filtering and search are designed around how customers actually shop, using the attributes that matter to them, not every attribute you store.

Checkout, payments and tax

We configure tax and payments to your instructions, but we’re not tax advisers. Rules for the UAE, US, UK, EU and Canada differ, so your accountant should confirm what you need to charge.

Shipping rules

Shipping is where stores most often lose money quietly. We set up shipping zones, classes and methods to match how you actually ship (flat rates, weight or size-based rates, free-shipping thresholds, local pickup, or live carrier rates through an extension) and test the rates customers will see for typical baskets in each zone.

Extensions: choose, configure or build

The WooCommerce ecosystem has an extension for almost everything, and every extension adds weight, cost and update risk. We start from what you need to do, choose the fewest well-maintained extensions that do it, configure them properly, and build small custom features only where nothing suitable exists. On existing stores, removing unnecessary extensions is often the quickest speed and stability win.

Store performance

Stores are harder to cache than brochure sites because carts, checkouts and account pages are personal to each visitor. We optimise what can be cached, keep product images light, limit scripts on product pages, check hosting resources (PHP workers matter for busy stores), and keep the order database efficient. Newer WooCommerce versions offer High-Performance Order Storage, which stores orders in dedicated tables; we check compatibility with your extensions before switching it on.

An example store project

Illustrative scenario

A store losing sales at checkout

A WooCommerce store selling outdoor gear sees many carts abandoned at checkout. The checkout page loads eleven scripts from various extensions, asks for a phone number and company name nobody needs, and calculates shipping only after the address is fully entered.

Unused extensions are removed and scripts limited to the pages that need them. Checkout fields are trimmed, express wallet payments are enabled through the existing gateway, and shipping estimates are shown in the cart. Every change is tested with real carts across shipping zones and gateways on staging before going live, and the owner tracks checkout completion in analytics to judge the result.
