Why Wix can't simply be exported
A Wix to WordPress migration rebuilds your Wix site’s design and features in WordPress, moves your pages, blog posts and images, and redirects every Wix URL to its new address. Wix doesn’t offer a full export to other platforms, so it’s a careful rebuild rather than a copy.
Wix sites run on Wix’s own system, and Wix’s help centre is clear that sites can’t be exported to be hosted elsewhere. Some content can be extracted: blog posts through the RSS feed, store products through a CSV export, and images by downloading them. Everything else (page layouts, design, forms, bookings, member areas) is rebuilt in WordPress.
That sounds like more work than it is. It’s also an opportunity: the rebuild fixes the structure, speed and SEO limitations that often prompted the move.
Rebuilding the design
You can keep the look you have, refine it, or use the move to redesign. Whichever you choose, we rebuild it as a proper WordPress theme or with the block editor, so you can edit pages yourself without breaking the layout, which is a common frustration with Wix’s absolute positioning.
Mobile layouts are designed properly rather than adapted, and performance is built in from the start: optimised images, minimal scripts and clean templates.
Wix apps and their WordPress equivalents
| On Wix | On WordPress |
|---|
| Wix Blog | WordPress posts and categories |
|---|
| Wix Forms | A form plugin with spam protection and reliable email delivery |
|---|
| Wix Stores | WooCommerce |
|---|
| Wix Bookings | A booking plugin or an integrated booking service |
|---|
| Wix Members | WordPress users, or a membership plugin if access rules are complex |
|---|
| Wix SEO settings | An SEO plugin, plus titles and descriptions carried across page by page |
|---|
Where an app holds data you need (bookings history, form submissions, member lists), we export what Wix allows and agree what happens to the rest.
Images on Wix are served from Wix’s own servers. Once the Wix site is unpublished or the plan ends, image links in exported content can stop working. Every image is downloaded, optimised and re-uploaded to WordPress during the migration, and links in posts are updated to the new copies, so nothing depends on Wix after launch.
Redirecting Wix URL patterns
Wix generates URL patterns such as /post/... for blog posts, numbered suffixes like /about-1, and /product-page/... for products. We collect every live URL (from the Wix sitemap, a crawl and Search Console) and redirect each one to its new address with a server-side 301. This is the step that protects the search visibility you’ve built.
Your domain and email
If your domain is registered through Wix, it can be transferred to another registrar, or kept where it is with DNS pointed at the new hosting. If you use Google Workspace or another email service through Wix, we copy the email DNS records first so mail keeps flowing.
The Wix site stays live until the WordPress site is tested and approved. Then the switch is a DNS change, planned for a quiet time.
Carrying across your SEO
Wix stores page titles, descriptions and social sharing settings in its own SEO panel; they don’t come with any export. We copy them across page by page, keep headings and content intact unless you want them improved, set image alt text, and add structured data that Wix may not have had.
Moving also tends to fix limitations that held the site back: cleaner URLs, faster pages, proper heading structure and full control over the XML sitemap and robots rules.
